New Adventures

New adventures are always a mixture of emotions: excitement, fear, anticipation…. I have finally signed a publishing contract for my first novel. I’m experiencing all of the above as I wait for the work to begin. There will be a lot of work: editing, proofreading, cover design, publicity campaign, etc.

This novel has already been years in the making. First there was the writing. Then the rewriting. Then the rearranging and rewriting that draft… again and again. I sought help and I learned a lot. I’ll talk about that process in a future blog.

The next phase was just as hard, and a lot less enjoyable. First I looked for and agent, then went to publishers. After each submission, I waited. Sometimes I got a rejection, other times no response at all.

I’m finally moving forward. More than one friend has told me that they have thought about writing a book. My advice is to go ahead if you are ready for the work and you are thick skinned enough to take multiple rejections before you move forward.

If you’d like to know more about my writing journey, stay tuned.
